The Athens County Land Bank will occasionally accept properties via donation from a property owner. If the property is determined to be an acceptable project, the Board of Directors will first vote to make the property one of our projects.
If the property taxes are current, the donation process is usually simple. The property owner will be asked to cover the legal fees for the donation.
If the property taxes are not current, a property might still be an acceptable donation and will likely go through the deed-in-lieu of foreclosure process. The property owner will be asked to cover the legal fees for the donation.
